The Hungarian Guest Investor Program

To qualify for the residence permit, investors must choose from one of the available investment options, and secure the Hungarian Guest Investor Visa. During this initial phase, they are required to prove that they have the necessary funds and successfully pass a background verification check.

Potential investment tickets:

  • Investment of €250,000 into a listed and central-bank-supervised Real Estate Investment Fund (already available)
  • Acquisition of a real estate property worth at least €500,000 (starting only as of 1st January 2025)
  • Gifting of €1 million in a form of a Non-refundable Public Trust Donation (TBC, already available)

The Guest Investor Visa permits investors to enter Hungary and complete the necessary investment within 93 days upon their arrival. Apart from some further minor liabilities (e.g. pay for a health insurance, register a legal residence address) fulfilling this requirement they can proceed to apply for their Guest Investor residence permit. This permit lasts for 10 years and can be renewed for a further 10 years, as long as all legal requirements are maintained.
